This code explains the standards our journalists and editors follow. It applies to everyone who writes for Urdu Voice TV, in Urdu and in English. Its purpose is simple: to earn and keep your trust.

Our eight principles
| Principle | What it means | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Accuracy | Facts come first. | We check important facts before we publish and correct mistakes quickly. |
| 2. Fairness | Every side should be heard. | We give people a chance to respond to serious claims about them. |
| 3. Transparency | Readers should know where news comes from. | We name our sources where we can and credit other publishers. |
| 4. Privacy | People have a right to a private life. | We do not intrude into private matters unless there is a clear public interest. |
| 5. No sensationalism | Headlines must be honest. | We do not use clickbait or misleading headlines. |
| 6. Copyright | Respect other people’s work. | We credit all material that is not our own. |
| 7. Respectful comments | Debate without abuse. | We remove comments that break our rules. |
| 8. Accountability | We answer to our readers. | We listen to feedback and explain our decisions. |
How we use sources
- We prefer official and first-hand sources: government statements, court documents, official data and eyewitnesses.
- Important facts are checked with at least one reliable source.
- When we use reports from other news organisations, we say so and link to them.
- We use anonymous sources only when the information is important and the source could be harmed if named. An editor must know who the source is.
- Photos and videos are checked before we use them. If an image is a file photo or an illustration, we say so.
Corrections policy
Everyone makes mistakes. When we make one, we fix it openly.
| Type of mistake | What we do |
|---|---|
| Small error (for example a spelling or a date) | We correct it in the story. |
| Important factual error | We correct it and add a note at the end of the story explaining what changed and when. |
| Serious error that changes the story | We correct it, add a clear note at the top, and may remove the story if it cannot be fixed. |
To report a mistake, email info@urduvoicetv.com with the subject line “Correction”. We review every report, usually within 24 hours.
Independence
- Our news decisions are made by our editors only.
- Advertisers, sponsors and owners cannot change or stop a story.
- Paid content, if we ever publish it, will be clearly labelled “Sponsored”.
- Our writers must tell an editor about any personal interest in a story they cover.
Rules for reader comments
We welcome your views. Comments must not contain:
- Abuse, threats or hate speech
- False information presented as fact
- Personal information about other people
- Spam or advertising
We may remove comments that break these rules, without notice.
